COMPOSIFORUM 2022

A more sustainable future thanks to composites’ recycling was the central topic of Composiforum 2022.

Scientists and experts from research centres, universities and leading companies convened in Zaragoza, Spain last 17th November, 2022 to discuss about the present and the future of composites. Nowadays it can be found in many equipment: airplanes, wind turbines, cars or in a padel raquet or skis. Composiforum, organised by Cátedra Aitiip Universidad de Zaragoza, addressed the need to adopt sustainability and circularity as main lines of the new economy, developing technology strategy to recycle new materials.

Prestigious speakers have showcased the latest advances in recycling, recovering and reusing of composites and the forefront of cutting edge technologies have been presented.

COMPOSIFORUM 2018

The second edition of COMPOSIFORUM 2018, organised by Cátedra Aitiip of the University of Zaragoza, brought together the major players in the composites sector to present the latest innovations in the sector.

The day started with a presentation from Brian L. Wardle, professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of MIT. Next it was the turn of prestigious innovation centres such as National Composites Centre (UK), the University of Standford, FIDAMC or Aitiip Technology Centre) and representatives of the industry such as Grupo MTorres, Airbus, IDEC or Acciona which presented their research lines and main outcomes as well as the application of composite materials in different sectors.

The attendees had the opportunity to visit Aitiip’s facilities to learn more about projects and processes carried out.

COMPOSIFORUM 2016

Over 140 representatives of from companies and research centres attended to the first edition of the International Composites Forum, COMPOSIFORUM 2016, organised by Cátedra Aitiip of the University of Zaragoza, held in Zaragoza.

The conference was opened by the president of Aitiip Technology Centre, Juan Manuel Blanchard and the responsible of the Department of Health, Bioeconomy, Climate and Natural Resources of CDTI (the Spanish Centre for Industrial Technological Development) Cecilia Hernández among other authorities. All of them agreed on the great progress in the development of new advanced materials happened in recent years thanks to the public and private cooperation.

The first edition of COMPOSIFORUM 2016 attracted the participation of renowned experts such as Stephen W. Tsai emeritus professor of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of the University of Standford, Brad Berkson CEO of N12 Technologies, Luc Ruys Director of the R&D Department in the Belgian textile research centre Centexbel and Ed de Jong vicepresident of development in Avantium Chemicals among others.
